We all work extra hard to look good and extra slim in our holiday pictures, however, most are guilty of undoing all the hard work we had done, while on holiday. Most holidays take us off our meal routine, so the least we can do for our body, is to stay in shape by working-out on the go, unless of course you are traveling with your personal trainer.
Check out the details of the hotel – Most hotels these days have pools, gym, and other fitness centers. These are already included in the money you are paying to the hotel. So make use of them. Every day if possible.
Pack right – We are not asking you to carry your dumbbells, but then, that is not the only thing that can keep you fit. Pack the below items in your bag, and use them.
• Athletic shoes
• Exercise clothing
• Swimsuit
• Jump-rope
• Resistance tubing
• Hand grips
• Music and headphones
• Exercise video or DVD / print outs
During Travel – Take a brisk walk around the airport terminals. Carry your bag and use that as hand weight. Stretch while you are standing. Go to a corner to do it, if you are ashamed to do it in full public view. Take the stairs. Walk up and down the airplane aisle while you are flying. Stretch on the plane.
Scope out the fitness scene – Find out the safe places or routes to run or walk. The hotel desk can help you with that. Find out nearest parks or trails. Find out if you can rent a cycle and do sight-seeing rather driving or taking public transport. Visit the nearest gyms and find out if they will allow one or two days to work out free of any cost. If you are unable to find time for any of these, use your body weight to do push-ups, crunches and leg squats. Print out one or two HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and do them while you are waiting for the dinner time.
We all need vacations. We all need breaks from our mundane lives. But vacations shouldn’t mean that we have to put much more extra effort to get fit after we come back. We can have fun and stay fit at the same time.
Bon Voyage!
