Like all places, your workout zone has its dos and don’ts, when it comes to dressing. We are not going to tell you whether you should or shouldn’t wear makeup. It is absolutely your choice, but for apparels and accessories – here are our suggestions
1. Don’t wear fashionable sneakers that you would wear with your jeans, wear the right trainers
The street sneakers are for light use, they are not created to provide you with adequate support and cushioning your feet or ankles might require during intense work-out. Review and choose workout shoes carefully that will excel at shock absorption. If you are into variety of physical activities, choose a pair for cross-training. And, no matter how much you love your shoes, retire them once you detect signs of wear and tear.
2. Don’t wear your office socks, wear athletic/ sports socks
Wool socks, cool-printed socks or any other socks you would wear to the office or parties are off-limits at the gym. Else you’ll not only have to deal with offensive odor which these socks won’t absorb but will increase your likelihood of developing a fungal infection. Workout socks are custom made to dry up quickly to reduce growth of microbes and to improve blood circulation.
3. Don’t wear jewelry or fashion watch. Wear a sports watch, if you feel the need
Apart from looking funny while wearing your jewelry while working out, the jewelry might get caught at any protruding object and cause severe damage. Excessive sweat might tarnish the metal accessory or might irritate your skin because of the reaction. Leave your jewelry at home or in the locker. Just a device on a strap to measure heart rate, music and/or time is enough.
4. Don’t wear fancy tees or tank tops. Wear sweat absorbing tees
To stay as fresh as you can, opt for shirts that slick away sweat. Most brands now have tees with mesh ventilation to enable the body to cool quickly. Sweat stained tees are really not hot. Steer clear of workout-wear made with 100-percent cotton fabric. This fiber may seem like a cool and comfortable option, but cotton absorbs moisture and is slow to dry. Wash your shirts after working out. And when it’s time please let go of your favorite gym tee.
5. Don’t wear Baggy clothes, wear comfortable- fit ones
Baggy clothes might hide your extra bags, but they impede movement and might actually get in your way of working out with various machines by getting caught in them. Select workout apparel that follows the lines of your body without being extreme skin-tight and is appropriate for the type of exercise or sport you do most often.
6. Wear innerwear/ bras, specifically made for workout
Last but not the least; please wear comfortable inner wear- whether it is your brief or your bra. You won’t be able to give your workout your 100% if you’re uncomfortable or self-conscious. Choose innerwear in moisture-wicking fabrics with flat or covered seams to minimize trapped sweat and chafing. A good sports bra protects the ligaments and tissues in the chest from excessive stretching or stress, enabling you to push yourself without worries.
